US President Donald Trump has shared videos showing inmates being transferred to El Salvador’s notorious maximum-security prison, CECOT, describing them as “killers, drug dealers and thugs.”
In his caption, Trump wrote:“THIS IS WHERE WE SEND OUR KILLERS, DRUG DEALERS & THUGS,” claiming that his administration’s approach was helping drive crime rates in the United States to record lows.
Located in Tecoluca, El Salvador, CECOT can accommodate up to 40,000 inmates, with reports indicating that individual cells hold approximately 65 to 70 prisoners.
