Nollywood actor Chijioke Nwokafor, popularly known as CJay Nwoks, has reportedly passed away, leaving colleagues and fans in mourning.
Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday announced the actor’s death on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in an emotional video shared on social media.
In the video, the visibly heartbroken actress revealed that she was at a hospital in Badore, Lagos, where CJay had reportedly been pronounced dead.
The actor’s death came on the same day a movie in which he played the lead role was scheduled to premiere.
The movie, titled “Egusi Ogbono,” was scheduled for release at 5 p.m. However, following the tragic news, Nkechi Blessing announced that the movie would no longer be released as planned.
The actress also expressed her grief in a post accompanying the video, stating that CJay’s death was not part of their plans and describing the development as deeply painful.
CJay Nwoks, whose real name is Chijioke Nwokafor, began his professional acting career around 2021.
During his time in the Nigerian movie industry, he featured in several productions, including Doctor Lanre, Fond of You, Godly Escort, Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, A Day to My Wedding and The Lies She Tell among others.
His sudden death has since triggered an outpouring of grief from fans, colleagues, and other members of the entertainment industry.
