Nigerian Bolt Driver Cries Out After Spending ₦80,000 on Fuel and Earning Just ₦60,000

A Nigerian ride-hailing driver has lamented the rising cost of running his business after reportedly spending ₦80,000 on fuel and earning only ₦60,000 from a night of driving for Bolt and inDrive.

The driver said his earnings were insufficient to cover his fuel expenses, leaving him struggling to provide for his family despite working throughout the night.

According to his account, he has a wife and four children to cater for, with responsibilities including school fees, feeding and vehicle maintenance.

He expressed frustration over the financial pressure, explaining that keeping up with family expenses and maintaining his car had become increasingly difficult amid rising operating costs.

His complaint has sparked conversations about the challenges ride-hailing drivers face, including fuel prices, vehicle repairs and the need to meet family obligations while working through digital transport platforms.

The situation also raises concerns about how much drivers actually take home after deducting their daily operating expenses.
