Speaking in a video addressed to members of the Ratel Movement, VeryDarkMan explained that his involvement in the Mohbad controversy initially centred on questioning Naira Marley over allegations surrounding the late singer’s experiences at Marlian Records. However, he later began raising questions about other circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
He recounted how he became acquainted with Davido in 2024 after the singer followed him on social media.
According to him, their relationship deteriorated after he allegedly obtained a WhatsApp group conversation in 2025, which he claimed suggested that some individuals within Davido’s circle were connected to efforts that resulted in his arrest in 2024.
VeryDarkMan said he attempted several times to reach Davido for an explanation but received no response.
He further alleged that a blog report later portrayed him as someone who wanted to secretly record Davido’s conversation and use it against him, an experience he described as betrayal.
The activist also accused some individuals involved in the Mohbad justice campaign of prioritising personal grievances against Naira Marley rather than genuinely seeking justice for the late singer. He claimed that efforts were made to convince Zinoleesky to leave Marlian Records, but the singer declined.
Addressing his disagreement with Zlatan, VeryDarkMan criticised the rapper for allegedly remaining silent during the initial campaign for justice for Mohbad while accusing him of using the controversy to promote their collaborative track, Account Balance.
He added that his issues with Davido also extended to the singer’s political position and support for his uncle’s political ambition.
VeryDarkMan insisted that his decision to distance himself from the celebrities was not driven by jealousy but by what he believes were actions that compromised the original purpose of the campaign.
“Justice for Mohbad brought us together, but it also divided us,” he maintained.
