President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared three days of national mourning following the crash of a Nigerian Air Force aircraft in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The aircraft, reportedly carrying 32 people, crashed during a routine mission after contact with it was lost on Monday.
Tinubu directed that the national flag be flown at half-mast throughout the mourning period and ordered a full investigation into the cause of the crash.
The President expressed condolences to the families of the victims, describing the incident as a painful loss to the nation and the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Authorities are continuing recovery efforts at the crash site as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy proceed.
