Osun Residents Fault Adeleke Over Alleged Support for Tinubu at APC Campaign Council Event.

Some residents of Osun State have reportedly expressed displeasure over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s appearance and dancing in support of President Bola Tinubu during an APC governorship campaign council event, describing the development as a contradiction of the grievances surrounding the recent Osun governorship election.

The governor’s reported display of support has sparked criticism among those who consider his action inconsistent with the way the APC-led Federal Government and the party handled issues surrounding the election.

Critics have described the development as the height of hypocrisy, political deceit and betrayal, arguing that political leaders should demonstrate consistency between their public statements, political positions and actions.

They questioned the rationale behind openly identifying with a political platform that they believe treated Osun’s electoral interests unfairly, insisting that political loyalty should not be placed above the interests and dignity of the electorate.

The critics further urged Nigerians to be more vigilant in assessing politicians ahead of future elections, stressing that public office holders should be judged by their records, integrity, competence, compassion and capacity to deliver good governance rather than their political affiliations or public displays of loyalty.

They maintained that leadership requires consistency, courage and accountability, adding that politicians must be prepared to stand by their convictions even when doing so becomes politically inconvenient.

The critics also called on voters to reject political opportunism and support leaders whose words align with their actions, arguing that the credibility of Nigeria’s democracy depends on citizens holding politicians accountable for their promises and political decisions.

However, the reported reaction should not be taken as the position of all Osun residents, while the governor’s appearance at the event and the circumstances surrounding it require further verification.

They concluded that the 2027 general elections present another opportunity for Nigerians to prioritise character, competence and public service over political theatrics and partisan loyalty.
