Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected kidnappers and recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition during a follow-up operation in Kogi State.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in Edimogbo Forest, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, following an earlier raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in the area.
According to the Army, troops of the 12 Composite Brigade returned to the forest to track fleeing suspects, clear remaining hideouts and prevent the criminal group from regrouping.
During the encounter, soldiers engaged the suspects, resulting in the death of two alleged kidnappers, while others reportedly escaped into the surrounding forest.
Items recovered during the operation included two AK-47 rifles, seven magazines, 438 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 4,725 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two bandoliers, two mobile phones and a power bank.
The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Composite Brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, said the operation had strengthened the gains of the previous raid.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against criminal elements in Kogi State, assuring residents of continued efforts to protect lives and property and restore lasting peace.
