The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a facility allegedly producing counterfeit Nivea roll-on deodorants in Makoko, Yaba, Lagos State.
The operation led to the seizure of 1,584 bottles of suspected fake deodorants following an earlier raid on a market on Lagos Island on August 18, 2026, where the products were allegedly being sold and distributed.
Two suspects, identified as Basil Ukpa and Ikechukwu Mba, were reportedly arrested during the investigation. Information obtained from the suspects allegedly helped investigators trace the products to the production facility in Makoko.
Consumers have been urged to exercise caution when purchasing roll-on deodorants, inspect product packaging carefully and buy from trusted retailers. Anyone who suspects a product is counterfeit should report it to NAFDAC.
