Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reacted to a video in which Pastor Arome Osayi and his wife announced that they had secured permanent residence in the United States. VDM drew attention to the pastor's earlier teachings on Nigeria's national calling, in which he spoke about the different strengths and purposes of nations, particularly Nigeria, China and technological development. He questioned why the pastor would relocate his family to a country he described as built on innovation rather than prayer and revival, and alleged that such teachings condition Nigerian youths to rely on prayer instead of creativity. In a separate Instagram video posted on September 27, 2026, VDM argued that this kind of preaching has played a role in holding Nigeria back. Relationship coach Solomon Buchi also weighed in, questioning the impact of Nigeria's over 100,000 churches on citizens' values and character. VDM has since shared a video from China, in which he joked about exporting prayers and described it as a form of barter trade. As of the time of this report, Pastor Arome Osayi has not publicly responded. The statements attributed to VDM remain his personal opinions and allegations, and no evidence has been presented that the pastor's teachings have directly caused the outcomes described.
