Atiku Wants To Give Back, Not Take Nigerians’ Money – Wife Says

The wife of the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Titi Abubakar, has said her husband is not seeking the presidency for Nigerians’ money but to give back to society.

Titi made the statement in a video shared by TV Platinum on X on Friday while campaigning for the former Vice-President ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

She described Atiku as a philanthropist with extensive experience, saying he would not need to learn on the job if elected.

“Atiku is a sellable material. That is why I’m so proud of my husband. Atiku is a philanthropist. Atiku has done it before. Atiku is not going to learn on the job, and Atiku is not a novice,” she said.

Titi also dismissed suggestions that Atiku, who is set to turn 80 this year, was still seeking political power or personal wealth.

According to her, his interest in the presidency is driven by a desire to contribute to the country and give back to the society.

“Atiku doesn’t want Nigerians’ money. Atiku just wants to give back to the society what the society has done for him. Because many people keep saying, what is he looking for? Very soon, he’s going to be 80,” she said.

She added that Atiku wanted to mentor younger Nigerians in politics and governance if elected.

Titi further predicted that Nigerians would eventually ask Atiku to remain in office for a second term, despite his reported intention to serve only one term.

“Atiku wants to tutor you, children, how politics is being made Nigerians will be yearning for Atiku for a second time — that he said he was going to do just one time. But Nigerians will yearn for him and bring him,” she said.

The ADC chieftain’s wife also criticised the state of the country, saying Nigerians were struggling under the current administration.

“Now, today, we have no constitution. We have no rule of law. Nothing is working. Our economy is in shambles. And I wonder how people are living. I wonder how people are eating,” she said.

Titi said that if Atiku eventually wins the 2027 election, he would use his first term to prepare his deputy to succeed him.

“By the grace of God, when Atiku comes to this table, I told you, people will yearn that Atiku should continue and do a second time. By then, he will have tutored his deputy. Maybe the deputy will take over from him,” she said.
