The Federal Government has announced that another 65 Nigerians will return to the country from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, amid concerns over anti-foreigner attacks in the country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made this known in a statement on Tuesday, saying the returnees are being sponsored by private individuals.
According to the ministry, the Nigerians are expected to leave Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, at 3:30pm local time aboard South African Airways.
They are scheduled to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at about 8:45pm the same day.
The ministry expressed appreciation to the individuals sponsoring the return and other stakeholders involved in the process.
It also said relevant government agencies would continue to coordinate the safe return of Nigerians from South Africa.
The latest group adds to a series of Nigerian returnees brought back from South Africa in recent weeks. On August 19, another 83 Nigerians returned to Lagos amid concerns over rising xenophobic and anti-foreigner sentiments in the country.
