The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended 28 candidates for judicial appointments across five states and other judicial institutions, while approving disciplinary measures against three judges following investigations into misconduct.
The affected judges were reportedly suspended for one year without pay over violations involving unlawful detention, abuse of judicial powers and disregard for due process.
The Council also issued warnings and cautions to other judicial officers over procedural breaches and delayed judgments.
The decisions were reached at the NJC’s 112th meeting chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, judicial discipline and strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s judiciary.
