The Federal Government has approved a monthly transport allowance of ₦70,000 for public workers across all levels for six months, beginning in November 2026.
The intervention is aimed at easing the impact of rising transportation costs and the increasing cost of living on Nigerian workers.
The agreement followed a meeting between the Federal Government and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abuja on October 27, 2026. Both parties also discussed minimum wage negotiations and outstanding allowances owed to public servants.
