A humanitarian and field operations professional, Lydia Chinenye Nwankwo, has reportedly been killed in a bandits’ attack in Sokoto State.
Her sister, Chisom Nwankwo, disclosed the tragic incident in a Facebook post on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, saying Lydia and her team were attacked while returning from field operations in Shagari Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Police Command confirmed an attack on communities in the area, with a police inspector reportedly among those killed.
The police spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Rufai, said the command was gathering more information to establish the circumstances of the attack and confirm the casualties.
