We Talk About Peter Obi Because He Lies a Lot — Keyamo

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has dismissed suggestions that the frequent public discussion of former Anambra State governor Peter Obi amounts to an obsession with him.

Keyamo said the attention was necessary because, according to him, Obi’s claims must be subjected to constant fact-checking.

The minister made the remarks in a post on X on Thursday, September 17, 2026, amid the ongoing dispute between Obi and the Anambra State Government over the financial record of his administration.

“I see some suggestions that everyone is ‘obsessed’ about Peter Obi because we are always talking about him. I am sorry, but they miss the point,” Keyamo wrote.

He went on to accuse Obi of making false claims during the 2023 presidential election and said Nigerians would scrutinise his statements more closely ahead of the 2027 election.

“When someone lies per second, you also have to fact-check him per second. He got away with the lies in 2023, but this time Nigerians are ready to fact-check every claim of the ‘yes-daddy’ man,” he said.

Keyamo added that the amount of public attention Obi receives was linked to the claims he makes.

“Therefore, to put it simply, the amount of time we talk about Peter Obi is directly proportional to the amount of lies he tells,” the minister stated.

His comments came amid a fresh exchange between Obi and the Anambra State Government over the state’s finances during his tenure as governor.
