Three siblings have been found dead on their father’s farm in the Oke Ogba area of Akure, Ondo State.
The children, identified as 11-year-old twins Joshua and Jacob Jonah and their five-year-old sister, Blessing, were found near a small river on the farm on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
The incident has left residents of the community mourning, with the circumstances surrounding the deaths yet to be established.
According to reports, the three children had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4. They reportedly left the farm and headed home while their father remained behind to continue his work.
However, when Samuel later returned home, he discovered that the children were not there. Their family subsequently began searching for them.
The search ended the following day when the bodies of the three siblings were discovered close to the bank of a small river within the farm.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the command had opened an investigation into the deaths.
“The Ondo State Police Command confirms the tragic loss of three siblings at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, on 4th September 2026,” Jimoh said.
He identified the victims as Joshua Jonah, 11, Jacob Jonah, 11, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing.
According to the police spokesman, the children had accompanied their father to the farm before leaving for home. They were later reported missing after their father returned home and could not find them.
Jimoh added that the children’s bodies were recovered on September 5 around the bank of a small river on the farm.
He said the bodies had been taken by their father for burial, while the police continued documenting the incident and investigating what led to the deaths.
As of the time of the report, the cause of death had not been established.
